Tip 1: Add a Little Greenery to Your Space
Detoxify your space by adding an air purifying plant to your home. A lot of people think about food and drink when they think about detoxification but the air in your home is something that is important that a lot of people tend to forget. Tip 2: Hydrate With Plants
Everyone knows how important it is to drink a lot of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated helps move your elimination channels along and thus is vital for the body's natural detoxification process. If you find it hard to drink your daily 2-3 litres, try eating more hydrating foods such as watermelon, blueberry, cucumber and grapes- all over 90% water.
Tip 3: Use Non-Toxic Cleaners
Limit your exposure to unnecessary toxic chemicals. You can use essentials oils, white vinegar, lemon and natural soaps such as soap nuts or castile soap and water to clean everything you need. Not a fan of DIY? Stop by a local health food store and find already made toxin free cleansers.
Tip 4: Go Au Naturale!
Swap out your harsh cleansers and cosmetics for natural plant based alternatives or simply take some time off from using anything at all. It only takes 25-30 seconds for anything that your put on your skin to enter your blood stream. That is why it is so important to consider switching your cleansers, lotions, soaps, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste etc. to natural alternatives. Can't find something in the ingredients list in nature? Don't use it.
Tip 5: Eat Plant-Based Whole Foods
Eat what is found in nature. Fruits and Vegetables should dominate your plate. Juices and smoothies for breakfast, big super food salads for lunch and big vegetable and grain bowls for dinner is a great way to detoxify your body gradually. Self massage it also an incredible way to stimulate the movement or toxins and healing.
Tip 7: Stretch
Join a hot yoga class for a full body stretch and flush of toxins through sweating or take some time daily, ideally 20-40 minutes to tune into your body and see where you're tight and carrying tension. Stretching is another great way to stimulate the release of toxins that can be trapped in tissues do to lack of movement or general bodily tightness.
Tip 8: Herbal Tea
Drinking specific herbal blends can help you support your body in detoxifying specific organs and bodily systems. Want to target the kidneys? Dandelion, Juniper Berries and Uva Ursi can do the trick! Each morning, first thing, start your day with a cup of hot (but not boiling) water and a squeeze of fresh lemon to jumpstart your system and help move things along.
